The Centre for Transformative Narrative Inquiry is hosting a Series of Masterclasses on Narrative Inquiry and Transformative Learning at the Departments of Adult & Community Education and Education, National University of Ireland, Maynooth. The next one is;
Collective Biography
Wednesday, 24th February, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
With Prof Bronwyn Davies, Univeristy of Melbourne, Australia.
In the course of this Masterclass, Bronwyn Davies, the originator of Collective Biography, will introduce and explore the method’s development and use as a research and reflexive process. The practices of collective biography build a communal space in which to explore individual stories around particular themes. Within collective biography workshops, through developing the skills of listening and attending to the minute bodily detail of moments of being, it becomes possible for each story to become a collective story, its purpose no longer to signal the substance of any particular individual, but to open the participants to new insights into the processes of being and becoming in the world—new ways of being subjects (Davies et al., 2006).
Bronwyn will also be conducting an intensive Collective Biography workshop at NUIM from 10 am -4pm on Monday and Tuesday, 22nd and 23rd Feb; there are a small number of places available which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
